The Accu-Chek Active system now offers functions to mark and evaluate the pre- and post-meal blood glucose values. The new Accu-Chek Active system provides the option to flag thses values of particular importance and thus supports a precise evaluation of the metabolic situation.

Furthermore, the averages of pre- and post-meal values for the last 7, 14 or 30 days can be retrieved from the meter's memory and displayed directly on its screen.

Easy-to-use data analysis function: Accu-Chek Active has a 350-value memory for saving results together with date and times as well as an infrared interface for communicating with a PC running a suitable analysis program.

Fast five second test time: With a testing time of about 5 seconds, your Accu-Chek Active is one of the fastest blood glucose monitors available.

Ergonomic design: Your new Accu-Chek Active is designed for ergonomic functionality with good looks.

Small blood sample: Your Accu-Chek Active requires only a small drop of blood, 1 to 2μL if you apply the blood to the middle of the test pad. If at any time the drop you apply is too small, the monitor will detect this and issue a warning.

Easy to operate: No need to press buttons when you carry out the test.

Out-of-meter dosing: After activating the test cycle you may remove the test strip to apply blood (eg. from an earlobe) and then insert the strip again in the monitor.

Accurate1 results: Application of blood to the test strip starts a colour reaction. The final colour is accurately read(measured photo metrically) by the meter's optical system and the result is converted to a blood glucose value.

Auto Coding: Each pack of test strips contains a coding chip that holds all of the important informtion that is needed to evaluate the strips from that particular pack. Whenever you open a new pack of strips, simply insert the new coding chip in the coding chip slot.

Easy to read display: Numbers and messages are clearly presented on a spacious display screen. Easily understood symbols give you additional information and instructions.

Virtually pain-free testing in 5 seconds.

How to use the Accu-Chek Active (GC)

Coding the meter

When coding your Accu-Chek Active meter, leave it turned off. Take the orange-coloured code chip from the pack of test strips and slide it gently into the slot on the side of the meter. Be sure to push the code chip in all the way until it clicks into place. Insert a test strip to turn on the meter.

Compare the three-digit code number (eg. 689) on the displaly with the number printed on the test strip container. The two numbers must be identical.

 Testing your Blood Glucose

Turning on the meter: Inserting the test strip automatically turns the meter on and puts it in test mode. Hold the test strip so that the application area and arrows are facing upwards. Gently push the test strip in the direction of the arrows into the test strip slot of your Accu-Chek Active until you hear it click into place.

Out-of-meter dosing: Pull the test strip out of the meter as soon as the drop symbol flashes in the display. You now have 20 seconds to apply blood to the test strip and re-insert it before the meter switches off.

Reading the blood glucose result and plausibility check

Reading the blood glucose result: In the case of 'in-meter dosing' the test is complete after about 5 seconds. The result appears in the display and is automatically saved with the date and time.

Plausibility check: You have the facility for verifying the result by comparing the colour of the round control window on the back of the test strip with the colour scale on the label of the test strip container. It is important that this check is performed within 30-60 seconds after blood application.

 Memory & cleaning the meter

Memory: Accu-Chek Active saves automatically 350 results in memory together with the date and time. To turn on the meter and retrieve results from memory please press the M button briefly. In the display you will see 'memory' at top left and the most recent blood glucose result. Press the S button to move back one result in time.
Cleaning the meter: Slide off the test strip guide towards you and clean it with cold water. Afterwards you may disinfect the test strip guide with 70% alcohol. Wipe the measurement optics component with a soft lint-free cloth and/or cotton swab, which may be slightly moistened with water or 70% alcohol. Make sure all of the components are thoroughly dry before sliding the test strip guide back onto the meter.

Flagging test results

You can flag test results to describe certain events connected to the result or particular characteristics of the result. You can only flag a test result while the test strip is still in the meter and the result is being displayed.
